The Saint James Trojans (7-6-2, 2-3) continued in area play against Alabama Christian Academy (8-3-1, 4-1) on a cool Friday evening game at Carlisle Field on the Saint James Campus in a match which would determine if either team would make it to the first round of the state playoffs. The game was moved from Thursday April 11 to Friday due to severe weather the day before. Both defenses played very aggressively in the first half with neither team scoring a goal during the first 40 minutes.
In
the second half both defenses continued to hold their lines,
but a Saint James foul in the box in the 72nd
minute gave ACA a penalty kick and Alex Stroud scored what
would be the only goal in the game.
The loss was Saint James' third in
the area, thereby eliminating them
from post season play, while Alabama Christian
clinched its first ever playoff berth with
the victory.
Saint James took 11 shots with five on goal and ACA had 16 shots with twelve on goal. Deshaun Lewis ended the evening with 11 saves with the only goal allowed on a penalty kick. ACA’s Hunter Mote had five saves with none allowed.
