The Saint James Trojans (5-3-1, 0-1) opened up conference play on a cool South Alabama evening with a loss to Brewbaker Tech High School (6-2, 2-0) at Carlisle Field. The first half turned into a defensive battle with neither team scoring. Both teams took ten shots on goal for the half. St. James' Deshaun Lewis had three saves and Brew Tech’s Damien Bynum had four saves.
Brew Tech came out of the gate in the second half with a goal from Paul Oberkor in the 41st minute. Both defenses continued to battle until Tristan Elmore scored for Saint James in the 59th minute on a free kick from right midfield to tie the score at 1. The match looked like it was going to end up a tie when Austin Duos broke free on the left side and scored in the 77th minute giving the lead back to Brew Tech 2 - 1. Saint James pressed hard during the last three minutes to no avail and Brew Tech held on to win.
