2022 -
GAME 9
SAINT JAMES 1, Sumter Central 0
(forfeit)
Sumter Central administration decided the morning of this
scheduled game, Friday, October 14, to forego the 100 plus mile
trip to Montgomery and forfeit the game. This basically has
no effect on Saint James, as they had already clinched the region
championship. It did prohibit Sumter Central from making the
state playoffs, but they were already eliminated via games played.
The 1 - 0 score will be the officially listed score as none of the
game actually took place. This is the second time
Saint James has won a game by forfeit. Saint James won by
forfeit over D.C. Wolfe in 1988 when their team disbanded
midseason.
Saint James will go nearly three weeks without a game as the
regularly scheduled off week takes place before a regular season
ending trip to Ozark to face the Carroll football Eagles for the
first time ever.
