Two key offensive starters for Saint James returned with a vengeance, as quarterback Josh Garnett and running back Tony Amerson paced the way as the Trojans James scored a touchdown on nearly every possession, built a 37 - 0 halftime lead, and cruised with a continuously running second half clock to defeat the Ashford Yellow Jackets 51 - 0 in front of a raucous Homecoming crowd.

Ashford picked up 22 yards on a first down carry.  It would be only one of six first downs in the entire game the Yellow Jackets would convert, and only one of three during "meaningful" game play.  The Trojans forced a punt after the first down run and began their first march to a touchdown which was completed by Stephen Sadie's 2 yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter.  Jin Kim's extra point was wide, but Saint James had an early 6 - 0 lead.

The kicking game, especially the punting game, was a bugaboo for the Yellow Jackets all evening.  Reminiscent of a play Saint James was the victim of in the previous game, a punt snap over the head of quarterback/punter Christoper McCray went well over his head and McCray was lucky to recover the ball at the Ashford 11.  It took Collin Duncan only one play to score on a sweep play to the left as he just snuck in inside the near endzone pylon.  Tony Amerson, making his return from a week four absence, scored on a two point conversion run and Saint James was up 14 - 0 with still time remaining in the first quarter.

The Trojans were the benefactors on another poor punt attempt, and Josh Garnett scored on a two yard keeper on the first play of the second quarter.  Kim, who would not miss again on an extra point, boosted the lead to 21 - 0.

Stephen Sadie added a 9 yard touchdown run as he went virtually untouched into the endzone, and less than a minute later, another bad snap went over the head of Ashford quarterback McCray.  This time he was lined up in shotgun formation, not to punt, but he fell upon the ball on the goal line, preventing an easy Trojan defensive touchdown, but Saint James still scored as a safety was declared, and with still over 5 minutes remaining before halftime and Homecoming, the Trojans were up by 30.

After the free kickoff, Saint James breezed down the field easily once more.  Tony Amerson scored on a 12 yard run to boost the lead to 37 - 0, and quite honestly the Trojans could have likely scored again before halftime as they were driving, but the Saint James coaching staft let up on the gas and the 37 point lead was sufficient for halftime.  And what a halftime it was!  Congratulations to Katie McIntyre, the 2017 Saint James Homecoming Queen, who was crowned in the traditional preocession and procedure which highlights each week of homecoming.

Amerson picked up his second touchdown on the opening drive of the third quarter, the final drive for the Trojan first stringers.  The entire second half was on a running clock as agreed at halftime, and it made for an amazingly early finish.  Saint James did score once more as one of the few Ashford passes which was completed unfortunately was grabbed by Saint James defensive back Bennett Blankenship, who smartly read the pass of Ashford backup quarterback David Hollinger and picked off his pass for a 46 yard interception return for the final score of the game.  Freshman Holt Harrison was called in for the remaining kicking duties, and he convereted his extra point as well, as the Trojans wrapped up one of their most dominating wins in school history with the 51 - 0 triumph over region foe Ashford.
