Frank Moody scored four touchdowns, the first Trojan to do so in fifteen years in one game, and the first string defense completely dominated with the exception of one long early touchdown run as Saint James got off to a great start at home with their fourth straight victory over the visiting Montgomery Academy Eagles 45 - 14.

Saint James wanted the ball first and was thankful Montgomery Academy deferred to them after the coin toss.  The Trojans drove 69 yards in 10 plays for their first touchdown of the season.  Frank Moody picked up 17 yards on a first down rush.  C.J. Duncan completed passes to Jonathan Robinson and Jake Farmer, and later Robinson carried for 17 yards himself down to the Eagle 13.  Four plays later, Moody scored his first of four touchdowns from the one and Matt Alter, who had a stellar night with six consecutive extra points, a made field goal, a long punt downed at the 6 yard line, and multiple endzone kickoffs, gave Saint James an early 7 - 0 lead.

Not for long.  After a short kickoff return, a short run, and a six yard pass from Josh Thomas to Hayes Vinson, Thomas called his own number at quarterback and wove through a busted Trojan defensive coverage, pulling away at midfield and outrunning Trojan pursuers for a 71 yard touchdown run.  Grayson Anzalone kicked the extra point, and within two minutes of the Saint James score, the Eagles had pulled even at 7.

It was as close as they would be the remainder of the night.  After an out of bounds kickoff, Moody was stopped for no gain on a run, but Robinson broke away for a 20 yarder and Duncan followed suit with a nifty 33 yarder afterwards.  From the Eagle 12, Moody carried twice for a total of 11 yards, and Robinson scored his first career Trojan touchdown one play later from the one, with the Alter extra point giving the Trojans a 14 - 7 lead still in the first quarter.

The Eagles could only return their kickoff to their own 16, and after a penalty, a short run, and two incomplete passes, had to execute the first punt of the game.  Moody returned the punt 9 yards to the Eagle 42.  However, after a penalty and a bad snap, the Trojans had to punt, once of only two they tried in the game, and the Eagles had the ball back to start the second quarter.  After one first down, however, Montgomery Academy started moving backwards.  An accepted holding penalty on an incomplete pass, and then a huge loss on an intentional grounding penalty left the Eagles fourth down and 45 from their own 2.  The punt, into a slight breeze, went nearly straight up and was downed at the 14 yard line.  Saint James picked up nine yards on three runs, but opted for the field goal on fourth down and one from the five yard line.  Alter's 22 yarder was true, and the Trojans added to their lead, 17 - 7, midway through the second quarter.

After an endzone kickoff, it was becoming increasingly apparent the Eagles would have to rely on primarily the feet of sophomore quarterback Josh Thomas.  He picked up several first downs, but later Montgomery Academy could not convert on a fourth down from the Trojan 40, giving the ball back to Saint James with under 1:40 remaining until halftime.  Robinson picked up 6 yards on first down, and after an incomplete pass Moody picked up 19 more for the first down.  After an Eagle timeout, their last of the half, Duncan tossed a pass to a wide open Walker Woodson who was dragged out of bounds and the Eagle 9 with 40 seconds remaining.  On first down, Moody carried tacklers to just inside the one yard line, and after the Trojans' final time out of the half, Moody was rewarded with his second touchdown from less than a yard out and Alter's kick gave the Trojans a commanding 24 - 7 lead just before halftime.

Montgomery Academy got one more chance to score but could not stop the clock.  Thomas picked up 28 yards on first down, but after an illegal substitution penalty, a desperation heave was intercepted by Duncan inside the Trojan 15, his first career interception, and the half ended on a happy note for Saint James.

Alter started the second half with an endzone kickoff, and the Eagles had to punt after three plays gaining only eight yards.  Duncan picked up 20 on first down, and Hunter Smith picked up 4 on his first career Trojan carry.  Several plays later, on third down from the 28, Duncan called his own number and wove through potential tacklers on the near sidelines after some fine blocks and scored his first touchdown of the season.  Alter's extra point gave the Trojans a 31 - 7 lead.  Three plays after another endzone kickoff, Kane Davenport intercepted a Thomas pass over the middle at the Eagle 45 which pretty much ended any threat of a late comeback.

Ten plays later, at the end of another plodding drive, Moody carried over from the 3 and the Alter kick gave Saint James a 31 point lead.  Against increasing Trojan second string defenders, the Eagles moved the ball but a Chase Ritter sack on fourth down ended a potential threat, and Saint James scored three plays later on Moody's final carry of the evening, a 45 yarder where he broke through the middle and zoomed toward the near side pylon at the goal line, which he crossed.  Alter's extra point in the fourth quarter gave the Trojans their 45th point of the game.

Despite the dominant difference in the score, the Trojans only racked up 10 more total yards in the game than did the Eagles.  However, besides the early 71 yard jaunt by Thomas, a huge chunk of the yardage was gained by Montgomery Academy in their last two drives of the game as the Eagles quickly responded against an all-backup Trojan defense with a 63 yard march.  Justin Woolfolk scored on a sweep play of 29 yards midway through the fourth quarter and the Anzalone extra point finalized the scoring at 45 - 14.  Alter, also the second string punter, came in and boomed a 46 yarder against the breeze pushing the Eagles back to their own 6 yard line.  They traveled nearly the entire field, with the clock expiring as they had reached the Trojan 9 yard line.  However, the Jimmy Perry era at Saint James had started very happily as the Trojans' margin of victory, 31 points, set the mark as the biggest defeat of the Eagles in the 40 year series history.
