The iron of the north endzone goalpost in McLemore Field was most kind to the Trojans
as a potential game-tying kick bounced off the right
upright, and Saint James upset the previously undefeated
Montgomery Academy in perhaps their biggest victory to date
over the Eagles, 14 - 13, putting the Trojans in the
driver's seat for its first ever Capital City Conference
football championship.
Lucas Harris led the team with 69 yards
rushing on 13 carries, including his go-ahead touchdown in
the third quarter. He also led the defense with 17
tackles. Rick Fidel, whose fumble return touchdown in
the first half opened the Saint James scoring, added 11
tackles, and Nathan Horsley contributed 13 tackles to the
Trojan defensive cause.
