The Saint James Trojans
finally managed to keep an opponent from scoring early and
often against them as they won their first game of the 1996
season on Homecoming by defeating the Calhoun Tigers 18 -
0. Keith Horn kicked three consecutive field goals,
becoming the first Trojan to successfully kick three in the
same game. He added an extra point on the Trojans' only
touchdown, a 23 yard touchdown pass from Alan Olsen to Jason
Smith. Richard Meadows was responsible for the other two
points as he blocked a punt through the Calhoun endzone for a
third quarter safety. Smith led the Trojan rushing
attack with 92 yards on 19 carries, while Olsen completed 6
passes for 66 yards.
