Saint James would have earned a playoff berth by finishing second in the area had they defeated the Eagles at home in the final game of the 1992 season.  However, Gerrell Debardelaben carried 20 times for 188 yards, ran for a first quarter touchdown, and caught a third quarter 57 yard touchdown pass to deflate any Trojan playoff dreams.  The crucial play of the game was the final one of the first half as Saint James was driving at the Autaugaville 15 with 14 seconds remaining only down by 13 points.  A fumbled pitch was picked up by Daryl Stoudemire and returned the distance, 87 yards, for the Eagle touchdown as halftime expired. Quarterback Eric Taylor took control of the game in the second half, running for one touchdown and passing for two, the one to Debardelaben and another to Keith Chappell.  Chappell added a pair of two point conversion runs.  The Trojans, beseiged with injuries in the second half of the campaign, began to look forward to the 1993 season, when the playoff absence jinx would finally vanish.
