HOMECOMING Game conditions: n/y/a
Saint James'
shutout victory over the Catholic Knights was a costly
one. Several plays after throwing a halfback pass to Ben
Freeman for a touchdown in the second quarter, Mark Kitchens
broke his ankle while on defense as it was hit squarely by a
helmet during a gang tackle, knocking him out for the remainder
of the season. The Trojan defense was tough nevertheless,
holding Catholic to negative passing yardage. Despite
committing 95 yards in penalties, the Trojans were able to drive
twice in the second half for Gavin Finklea field goals, as they
cemented their victory over their Vaughn Road neighbor to
celebrate Homecoming 1987.
