Mark Kitchens was
instrumental in all three Saint James touchdowns. He returned a punt
22 yards to set up the Pat Allen's first touchdown reception
of the season midway through the first quarter; he hauled in a deep
66 yard pass from Jeff Stevenson for the second score of the
game; then he rushed for a seven yard touchdown early in the
fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring. The Pirates moved
the ball with regularity both on the ground and through the
air throughout the middle of the field, but they never managed
to enter the Trojan red zone. Eleven penalties for 65
yards hindered the Saint Jude cause, as did two untimely lost
fumbles and a Trojan interception.
