The Trojans sometimes appeared sluggish against an enormously outmanned Eagle team, which officially had only fifteen players on the roster at this game, the conclusion of their season.  However, Saint James pulled away with four fourth quarter touchdowns, the final scored by sophomore Coleman Brewster, as Saint James clinched the runner-up spot in 1A Area 9 and a second consecutive trip to the state playoffs with a 48 - 0 shutout of Alabama Christian.

Johnny Redding, who played sparingly with a slightly sprained ankle, was limited to 69 yards on 9 carries.  Other Trojans rushed for 189 yards, with the Eagles only netting 14 rushing yards.  Just after Jeff Stevenson's touchdown pass to Jody Ortega late in the first quarter, Charles Sylvest returned an interception from midfield as time expired in the first quarter to set the Trojans on their way.

Alabama Christian also lost six of seven team fumbles and threw two interceptions for a fatal eight turnover performance.
