September 23, 1983.
Collier Field.
Ben Lott rushed for 106 yards on 15 carries which helped set up
several short touchdown runs as the Trinity Wildcats soundly
defeated the Trojans 29 - 3. Trinity outrushed Saint James
241 to 111, and held the Trojan offense almost silent in the
second half, limiting Saint James to minus one yard total offense
in the final quarter. Bubba O'Gwynn scored two touchdowns,
and Bryan Hinds ran for a touchdown and threw for another.
The Trinity field goal with less than ten seconds remaining in the
first half was critical in stealing momentum back from the Trojans
after they had cut the lead to a manageable eleven points just
moments earlier.
