October 13, 1978.  Catholic Field

Vic Vickery scored two first half touchdowns, and Robert Kelly added a pair of extra points and the first successful Trojan field goal of the season as Saint James defeated its first (and what would be their only victory over a) city rival of the year.  Mike Beavers was the defensive star of the game as he was directly responsible for four takeaways.  He grabbed three interceptions, two of those in the Catholic endzone and the other inside the Trojan five yard line.  He recovered a Knight fumble as well.  Catholic starting quarterback Tommy Logan unfortunately was on the bench in a full leg cast after a previous week's injury.

Saint James' first touchdown drive took up well over seven minutes to start the game and lasted sixteen plays.  Three plays and minus 19 yards later for the Knights, the Trojans started their second touchdown drive which lasted nearly six minutes as well, tiring out the Catholic defense before they ran their fifth offensive play of the game.
