September 5, 1975.  Catholic Field

Saint James, in its first varsity football season as a full Alabama High School Athletic Association member, and playing the first ever game on its shared and co-owned field at Catholic High School, celebrated after a victory over the visiting Hayneville Blue Devils.  James Martin scored touchdowns three different ways; one by pass reception, one by run, and one on the final play of the first half on a 48 yard interception return.  Wem Mellown caught two touchdown passes from Alan Spear and was officially credited with the tackle in the endzone after a kickoff for the third quarter Trojan safety.

Greg Henry added two extra points and a late field goal.  Hayneville was completely stymied by the Trojan defense, totaling minus 6 yards on the night  (minus 24 rushing, 18 passing on only one completion).  Only one first down was converted by Hayneville, that due to a Saint James penalty.  Hayneville committed six turnovers (four lost fumbles and two interceptions).  Saint James had 203 yards of total offense (122 rushing and 81 passing).
