October 23, 1973.
The Saint James defense held the Crusaders to a stifling minus 22 yards total offense while picking up 266 yards of their own. Martin Gray had 82 yards rushing on nine carries, one of those a twelve yard first quarter touchdown. Alan Spear added 54 yards through the air on 6 of 14 passing, including a late touchdown pass to Bud Winn to sew up the victory. This game was played on a peculiar Tuesday evening because of scheduling conflicts, but it worked out better for both teams in surrounding games.
