(GIRLS) SAINT JAMES 52, BTW-Tuskegee 39
K.K. Hall scored 19 points on her way to being
named Most Valuable Player of the 4A Area 5 Girls
Basketball tournament as Saint James won its 21st area
tournament in 42 seasons by defeating the BTW-Tuskegee
Lady Eagles 52 - 39.
Traviana Fielder scored an early basket for the Lady
Eagles to give them a 2 - 0 lead. It would be their
only lead. Saint James would score the next 9 points
and hold off a flurry by BTW which cut the lead to 2 at
the end of the first quarter. However, the Trojans
outscored the Eagles 16 - 7 in the second quarter and
maintained a 10 - 16 point lead for the remainder of the
game. Ava Card added 16 points for Saint James and
Danielle Green added 5. They were both named to the
All-Tournament Team. Zakiya Alexander led BTW with
11 points, but the Eagles' representatives on the all
tournament team were Deshayla Robinson and Makayla
Sanders. BTW was the only team in the tournament to
play two games, defeating Bullock County for the right to
face off against Saint James.
The Trojans (17 - 7) will host the loser of the Geneva /
Straughn game on Monday at 6:30 PM in the first round of
the 4A Substate tournament.
