The St. James Lady Trojan season ended in the sub-regional round of the state playoffs as Frankie Miller poured in 26,
and her Lady Cougars held off a ferocious fourth quarter rally as Central-Coosa moved on to the Southeast Regionals at
Troy with an 11 point victory.  St. James was the hot team early, getting off to a blistering 14-4 start after a Hillary Barnes
three pointer.  However, Miller hit a three pointer just before the first quarter buzzer, and it was the first of 20 consecutive
Cougar points, allowing them to build a 24-14 lead midway through the second quarter.  Elizabeth Richards hit two three
pointers for the Trojans and the gap closed to 7 at halftime.  St. James got as close as 4 early in the third quarter, but
Miller and Shakethia Thomas poured in buckets to boost the lead to 11 after three quarters.  In the fourth quarter, the
Trojans, with two of their ball handlers in foul trouble, came out smoking.  A Catherine Cowart basket, two baskets from
Lisa Bright, and a three pointer by Katie Smith had St. James within 2 points at 42-40.  After three Cougar free throws,
Barnes hit her other three pointer to cut the lead again to 2 at 45-43.  However, soon after, she would pick up her fifth
foul and leave the court to a standing ovation for an outstanding basketball career at St. James.  The Cougars repeatedly
drove the lane and made bank shot after bank shot, while St. James could only add a Laura Beth Freeman three pointer
late in the game as Central cruised down the stretch.
