The LAMP Tigers played St. James close for the first
13 minutes of the game, mostly on the strength of
four early three pointers by Shawn Swayzer, but the Trojans went on a
23-0
run and allowed very few
two point field goals in the final three quarters, as St. James
celebrated
Senior Night with a 26 point victory.
Senior Taylor Nelson, who had well over double digit rebounds to go
with
his game-high 28 points, and
Senior Chris Roberts, who was held to one late free throw but dished
out
numerous assists, played their
final regular season games in front of the Trojan faithful. Matt
Ward
added 15, including 7 of 7 from the
free throw line, starters Adam Mills and Jordan Kirkland each poured in
double
digit points, as did Will
Johnson off the bench with 10 of his own. Vondrè Wright,
who
committed his fourth foul at the halftime
buzzer, was not much of a factor in the second half although he scored
9
of his 11 points in that period.
Shawn Swayzer ended up with 15 to lead the Tigers, all from three point
range.
In fact, the Tigers made
more three pointers (10) than two pointers (9), and only made four two
point
baskets after the first
possession of the second quarter.

Hillary Barnes needed 46 points to reach the 1000 point plateau for her
career. She did it in style on
Senior Night at St. James by pouring in 50, including 9 three pointers,
almost
certainly a St. James
female record, as the Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Tigers by 69.
Emily
Meadows also scored 10
points, her career high. But the night was all Barnes as it
appeared
more and more likely toward the
end of the game she could reach her 1000 point marker at home, and she
did
so with 4 to spare. She
was awarded a special team game ball to mark her notable career
achievement during
the Senior Night
festivities just after her game had completed. Barnes, Meadows,
Carrie
Adams, and Lisa Bright,
who was injured and did not dress out, each marched out with their
parents in
their final regular season
home basketball appearances, and they made it a memorable one for sure.
